Technical and Functional Overview of the TEC

The TEC is primarily based on Java application servers - j2ee- making it available across multiple hardware platforms. This enables Transplace to continuously revisit the hardware platform for price performance and make necessary changes without affecting changes to the software.

The TEC integration strategy adheres to standards such as XML, SOA, W3C, SAP IDOCS, EDIFACT and ANSIX12 as well as data transport mechanisms like FTP and HTTPS. This enables a messaging interface that is decoupled from customer ERP systems and yet supports multiple integration platforms.

Transplace invests significantly in the .NET platform to best interface with third-party products and partners. Further, there is a significant reliance on industry communication standards, including Internet technology standards that enable seamless integration with partner systems and services. Internally, the software is modular ensuring separation of the user interface software from business logic, integration and database logic.

The Google Web Toolkit based TEC is highly customizable from user interface preferences with rich functionality that enables subscription based attention lists, rule-driven custom workflows and schedules. And because of its modularity, it is easily configurable to address new requirements.

Notifications may be customized via subscriptions, enabling timely, accurate and relevant alerts to interested parties. These pre-emptive and exception notifications reduce errors and allow for true management by exception.

The functional support for transportation solutions, combined with the latest in technological advances, ensures seamless end-to-end business work flow. Automation of lean logistics processes, management by exception and preemptive notification are the hallmarks of a good Transportation Management System.
